Everything You Need to Know

We provide equestrian holidays in Ireland, featuring guided horse treks through stunning landscapes like beaches, mountains, and heritage trails. Our most popular offerings are overnight packages (3, 4, 5, or 7 nights) that include daily treks, accommodation at the Westport Woods Hotel & Spa, breakfast each morning, and access to our leisure centre (gym, pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi). We also offer day trips for a one-day trekking experience or horse-riding lessons.

Our treks are suitable for riders of all levels, from beginners to advanced. We tailor each experience to your skill level, ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride. Children aged 12 and above can join if accompanied by an adult. For specific treks, such as the Beach Trek, the minimum age is 8 years.

We accommodate groups of up to 5 riders. For private groups of 6 to 8, we can plan upon request, with an additional backup guide to ensure safety and enjoyment.

Yes, for the safety and comfort of both riders and horses, we have an upper weight limit of 90 kg (200 lbs).

Riders meet at our stables in Bohea, Liscarney, Westport, Co. Mayo, F28 WK23, for an assessment of their riding experience, followed by a brief orientation on safety and what to expect. If you’re staying overnight, we’ll arrange a transfer from the Westport Woods Hotel & Spa to the stables.

Arrival time is typically set for 10:00 AM, but this can vary depending on weather and tidal conditions. We’ll notify you in advance if there are any changes. For overnight guests, your itinerary will include specific timings, which will be shared during the hotel orientation.

A 25% deposit is required to confirm your booking, which is refundable if cancelled four months before your start date. The remaining balance is due one month prior to arrival. Cancellations after this period may incur charges – please contact us for details.

Our 3, 4, 5, or 7-night packages include daily guided treks (e.g., Beach, Mountain, or Heritage Treks, depending on the package), accommodation at the Westport Woods Hotel & Spa, breakfast each morning (continental and full Irish), and access to the leisure centre, which features a gym, pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. Spa services are available at an additional cost.

Day trips include a guided trek of your choice (Heritage, Mountain, or Beach), a comprehensive orientation, horse pairing, and all necessary riding equipment (including helmets). Refreshments like water and light snacks are provided during breaks. Day trips do not include accommodation or leisure centre access.

Yes! Our day trips are perfect for those wanting to learn horse riding. We offer lessons for beginners, focusing on basic skills, safety, and confidence-building, led by our experienced guides at our stables in Bohea, Liscarney.

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (layered clothing and a waterproof jacket are recommended) and riding boots or shoes with a heel for safety. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle. We provide helmets and all necessary riding equipment.

You’ll stay at our trusted partner, the Westport Woods Hotel & Spa, a four-star hotel in Westport, Co. Mayo. It offers deluxe rooms, a leisure centre (gym, pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi), dining at the Lakeview Restaurant, and packaged breakfast each morning.

Yes, non-riding companions are welcome to stay at the Westport Woods Hotel & Spa and enjoy the hotel’s amenities, such as the leisure centre, dining, and spa services (at an additional cost), while riders are on their treks.

We closely monitor weather conditions, especially for treks affected by tides, like the Beach Trek. If necessary, we’ll reschedule or adjust the trek to ensure safety and enjoyment. You’ll be notified in advance of any changes.

Safety is our priority. We conduct a pre-trek assessment to match you with the right horse, provide a thorough orientation, and supply helmets. Our experienced guides lead all treks, with backup guides for larger groups, ensuring everyone’s safety and comfort.

While formal attire like wedding dresses and suits is not recommended, we suggest:
